On the Water Around Manhattan

So as part of our City Pass, we took a 3 hour cruise around the southern half of Manhattan. This was a good way to see the city's skyline, plus the narrator knew what he was talking about. Jenn really liked the hot chocolate in the galley.

One thing that was bad about going in the off-season (read: winter) was the cold. That must be why the hot chocolate was so good.

See, I wasn't kidding! That temp's taken on the land. Imagine, we were on the water, with winds at a steady 10 mph, gusting to 25 mph. Wind chill factor ain't no joke!
Oh, and that's the Jehovah's Witnesses's national headquarters, btw.

As you can see, braving the cold was definitely worth it.

She sure is pretty, isn't she?

It may look like we're getting close for the picture, but really, we're just trying to conserve body heat.

She brings out the best in us.

The skyline of the southern tip of Manhattan. I'm still trying to figure out what that cylindrical, reflective building is. I like how the bird was in this one.

The Verrazanno-Narrows bridge, largest suspension bridge in the country. It connects Staten Island (on the right) to Brooklyn (on the left).

East skyline of Manhattan. Taken, of course, from the East River. The Empire State building is on the left, while the Chrysler building is on the right. The tall building with the slanted roof on the very far right is the Citicorp building.

It ain't the biggest or the longest, but man, the Brooklyn Bridge is special.
Did you know that the Brooklyn bridge got its name during a time when Brooklyn hadn't yet been incorporated into the city of New York? As an incentive to join the city, the bridge was named for Brooklyn.
Too bad we never made it out to Brooklyn, but there's no way to do everything, plus it gives us a reason to visit again.
